Today on Sherlock Your Skin (Eczema Skinvestigation), we are on Day 3: Cosmetics. The stuff we put on top of our skin. Oooh, that’s a big one in the eczema lifestyle.
Boy, can this be a very maddening topic for us! All of these big promises products and cosmetic companies make on their bottles to “make skin softer”, “turn back the hands of time”, or to “be the gentlest on even sensitive skin” only to irritate our skin further, cause more itching, more lichenification, swelling and rash wrinkling.
There are a lot of filler ingredients that provide no real protection or therapeutic value like mineral oil and other ingredients that are straight up carcinogens and skin irritants like fragrance, parabens, PEGs, and phenoxyethanol – a newer replacement for parabens, but not without side effects of their own.
In this video, I mainly focus on the types of formulations different types of rashes respond well, too, and what kind to get depending on how your rash is showing up. Click the link in my bio to find out more!
Wishing you all much healing and empowerment!
