The side effects are Minoxidil are common, less common and rare. The common ones are dryness and frizziness of hair this is because of the alcohol base in Minoxidil and gives a rough and dull appearance. So this can be managed by applying conditioners on the hair and taking care of the hair. Minoxidil can cause shedding of hair in the first 2 to 3 weeks, that is minimal shedding, itching of the scalp and it can be mild or severe. It is less common side effect, some people get itching after 1 to 2 seconds. Some may get itching ad get worse. If it continues you have to consult a doctor. The rare side effects are allergy to Minoxidil solution itself can cause allergy. If it is Minoxidil related allergy, you can never use Minoxidil. There can be swelling of face, head and oozing. If it is because of the base of solution, you can change the base of the solution. Foam based and gel based Minoxidil do not have alcohol and the irritation is lesser.
