Welcome to my series on Eczema Itch Management Part 2: Breathwork!  Breath is one of the things we take with us everywhere we go.  It is free.  It is omnipresent.  We use it every second.

Did you know that the breath you take can direct the energy that flows within you?  And that if you stress out and hold your breath, you’re holding onto that stress?  So, by that logic, to exhale and let go of that breath is to let go of that stress.

In my experience, keeping the breath going regularly can keep my stress and itchiness at bay.  And if I am taken over by a what feels like a tidal wave of itchiness (accumulative, rising, and panic-inducing), if I can be present enough to remember to exhale with the intention of letting go of the itch or the trigger for the itch (like in the case of stress from emotions, work, school, family, etc.), then many times the exhale alone is all I need to not feel like scratching.

Think it’s too good to be true?  Try it and see for yourself.  See if making a conscious effort to exhale and not hold your breath makes your itchiness better or worse.  Don’t take my word for it.  Experience it.  And then make it better for yourself.  I’m just here to help and share my stories.
