You do-not want to get scabies, trust me.
It is a highly contagious skin infestation cause by a mite called Sarcoptes scabiei.
It spreads through close physical contact with an infected person or by sharing contaminated items like bedding or clothing. It is commonly observed in crowded places such as nursing homes, schools, lower socio-economic households where too many people share small spaces.
So please pay attention to any itch and get it diagnosed. This infestation can be silent for many weeks/ months and silently spreads from one another until a day where you have unbearable , uncontrollable itching and it takes weeks / months to fully treat it.
Usually symptoms – ITCHING , increases at night. Common sites where you see an attach marks are finger webs, around umbilicus , buttocks , arms and eventually all over the body.
We do blanket therapy – which is treating all the people at home at once to stop the spread and kill the mites. Itching can persist for weeks even after the treatment .
Consult your dermatologist at the earliest. Donot neglect any itch especially when you have kids / infants at home. Please take care.
