Pregnancy is a time when your skin is bound to be itchy. That is because of the increase in the hormone progesterone, and various other hormonal level. The various rashes are divided into several categories. First is a special dermatoses of pregnancy, where you are affected by a rash which is very specific to pregnancy, for example your pruritic urticarial plaques and papules in pregnancy. Secondly, a pre-existing disease that has got exaggerated during pregnancy, or it can get down because of pregnancy hormones, example, acne vulgaris. Third thing is anew disease which has started during pregnancy, but is treatable, like scabies. Management of the rashes start with a counseling session, where the parents are worried if the rashes will affect the baby. After the counseling, depending on the skin type and the category of it, the healing and the treatment is done.it also includes investigations like liver function tests. If it is high, then it has to be treated accordingly. Otherwise the regular treatment of calamine and Pregnancy A and B category of medicines which is safe for both the mother and baby is given. These specific dermatoses usually reduce after the baby is delivered.
