What is it like to live with eczema and highly sensitive skin, even into adulthood?
In this episode of Sensitive Skin Diaries, Rachel shares her experience of growing up with eczema and the ongoing challenge of managing flare-ups.
As a child, Rachel was told to wear mittens to bed to stop herself scratching during the night. Now in her 30s, it’s still something she struggles with. There are nights when she wakes up and realises she’s been scratching her skin without even knowing it.
Over the years, Rachel has seen dermatologists searching for answers, but often the solution has been the same: another steroid prescription.
For Rachel, the hardest part is feeling stuck in a cycle — returning with the same problem and still hoping for a real answer.
In Sensitive Skin Diaries, eight women come together to share honest conversations about living with sensitive skin conditions including eczema, acne, urticaria (hives) and topical steroid withdrawal.
These are real stories about the frustration, resilience and hope that come with learning to understand reactive skin.
If you’ve ever struggled with eczema, sensitive skin, chronic itching or recurring skin flare-ups, you’re not alone.
