What happens when we have long travel is we do not have enough photoprotection or the sun protection. So if a person is allergic to sunlight, then there is a chance of developing stagny white bumps on the photo exposed areas, that is on the extensor aspects of the arms. Sometimes even white patches on the cheeks, sometimes on the nape of the neck. So this is called as polymorphic light eruption. So it is a kind of a light exposure to sunlight. So what happens when the sun exposure is more? You will land up in sunburn. So in allergy, the sun exposure may not be too much. In allergy even a small quantity of sun exposure can give these kind of white bumps. So this is called as polymorphic light eruption. As far as management, if it is acute and u is extensive causing lot of itching, then 2 – 3 days of corticosteroids is what is required or else the corticosteroid creams with ample emollients, sunscreen on a regular basis is more than enough. Suppose you get these kind of rashes with every travel, the increase the carrots in your diet as carrots have beta carotene which has been found to be very effective in managing polymorphic light eruption. Also there is a plant extract called polympodium leucotomos. One tablet daily for 2 – 3 months is also found to be helpful.
