Allergies can present itself in various forms.. from running nose, to watery eyes , and sneezes. But do you know, your skin is also an entry and exit portal to allergens and hence shows signs of allergies?
Medically called atopic skin shows various signs that your body is fighting an allergen. Some of which are mentioned in the video.
Seek medical help to get the right care. Usually depending on the genetic predisposition, severity atopy can be a long lasting condition which generally tends to improve with age. Other than medical line of treatment , general measures to be taken are –
* avoid hot water and long showers which can further damage your skin barrier
* Always apply a moisturiser on damp skin twice a day
* Wear appropriate clothing ( cottons , loose breathable fit, covered clothing and cover your nose when getting exposed to dust , pollens or any triggers ( your Dermat would explain these during consult)
* Avoid inflammatory foods and consume home cooked healthy meals containing lots of greens, nuts & seeds, veggies. Avoid extremely sour items like tamarind, nightshades, milk & milk products , peanuts ( in select cases) that can trigger reactions etc ( we will give you new tire food chart during out Consults )
* Maintain a proper sleep cycle
* Keep your surrounding clean, dust free as much as possible. Avoid unnecessary items ( like carpets , decor items) that can accumulate dust.
* Avoid raising pets ( especially the furry ones ) as they can trigger reactions as well
* Avoid scratching. If itchy take little moisturiser and rub the area instead of scratching as it will set a cascade that will further worsen the itch scratch cycle.
