As a whole lot of you rightly pointed out and asked, Acne UV Gel has been reformulated, so I thought I will try and see the new formula since many of you pointed out in the comments about the change! And if you loved the older version, you’ll want to watch this before repurchasing.
In this video, I’m comparing the old Acne UV Gel vs the new Acne UV Advanced Light Protection sunscreen using the ingredient lists + real-life texture experience. On paper, the new one looks like an upgrade (fragrance-free, modern filters), but on skin? The experience is very different. If you’re looking for an affordable Indian pharmacy sunscreen and you’re confused about which Acne UV Gel you’re getting, this breakdown will help.
Old Acne UV Gel used a modern hybrid filter system including filters like:Octinoxate (UVB)Tinosorb S (broad spectrum)Uvinul A Plus (UVA)Diethylhexyl Butamido Triazone (UVB)Titanium Dioxide
It also contained fragrance.New Acne UV Advanced Light Protection switches to a more mineral/particle-heavy system:Zinc Oxide addedTinosorb M addedTinosorb S + Diethylhexyl Butamido Triazone still presentTitanium Dioxide still present
And it is fragrance-free.
Here’s my honest experience
The older one felt more velvety and cosmetically elegant on bare skin.
The newer one, for me, feels heavy, strange in texture, not very breathable, and it’s also noticeably harder to take off — I feel it needs proper double cleansing.Where I bought itI purchased mine online via Apollo Pharmacy (availability may vary).Quick reminderI’m not a dermatologist. I’m sharing personal experience plus ingredient analysis. If you have acne, rosacea, eczema, or a compromised barrier, please check with your dermatologist before switching sunscreens. Always patch test.Have you used both versions? Did the new one feel heavier to you too? Comment your skin type and experience.
