10 facts about Boroline✨
1. Boroline was invented in Kolkata by G.D. Pharmaceuticals in 1929. It’s quite old. Gour Mohun Dutta joined the Swadeshi Movement and started Boroline.
2. The familiar green tube’s logo has an elephant for which it is known as Hatiwala cream. The logo was carefully chosen as elephant signifies steadiness and strength.
3. On 15th August, 1947, two Calcutta newspapers carried an advertisement –“One lakh Boroline would be distributed free to celebrate India’s Independence.”
4. Boroline has a combination of the antiseptic boric acid, zinc oxide, and the emollient lanolin and is meant to be used for cuts, cracked and rough skin
5. The percentage of Boric acid is 1% and Zinc oxide is 3.1%
6. Boroline also has petroleum jelly in the formulation
7. It contains fragrance which is strong but it never irritated my skin
8. Boroline is known for having Boric acid in the formula and Boric Acid is used in cosmetics as preservatives, antiseptics, water softeners, pH adjusters, emulsifiers, neutralizes, stabilizers, buffers, or viscosifiers. So you can see it has multiple functions depending on the formulation
9. As boroline is a multipurpose cream, you can use it many ways. My favourite ways of using Boroline are as a hand cream, spot treatment wound/peeling, overnight lip mask.
10. Boroline is not a just cream but an emotion for Bengalis. We literally grew up with it

Also many people asked me if Boroline works on pimples? For me, calamine based spot treatments work better.

I also got questions like if it’s gonna work on pre existing pigmentation. I don’t think so but it does help with wound healing. My skin got peeled and I applied Boroline. My skin healed so beautifully and did not leave any dark spot 🙋🏻‍♀️

It also can feel oily so personally I don’t use it as a face cream ✨
