This is my monthly update to my Low Buy for 2023. I have too many items in my inventory and I would like to cut back on all of my numbers. In order to do this, I’m going on a low buy. I am doing this in conjunction with several other people who are listed below. Each of us has customized the rules for our low buy to fit our individual needs. I have my rules listed below. Rules for my low buy
I will be using a low buy bank. I get one point for each item finished. Each item I purchase costs 2 points from my low buy bank. I will be putting points for skincare, haircare, and makeup all into the same bank. I am starting off with zero points in my bank. If I want to purchase something, I have to earn it.
Two out, one in for all items I purchase. The only four items I am allowing an exception on are
1. Lash glue–I only have one
2. White foundation mixer–I only have one
3. Clarins Total Eye Lift–this quickly clears up my eczema, so I’ll buy it if needed
4. SPF–I only have one
I don’t get points for
–Foil samples
–Eyeshadow pans I hit
–Eyeshadows I finish in palettes. I DO get points for eyeshadow singles (ColourPop Super Shock Shadows, etc.)
It doesn’t matter how I pay for an item (Ulta points, gift cards, cash, etc.), if they come into my collection, they cost 2 points from my Low Buy Bank.
Any type of gift (birthday, Christmas, anniversary, etc.) doesn’t count against my low buy bank. Deb and I have agreed that we will only send each other gifts for our birthday and for Christmas.
I have a subscription to Orly Color Pass that I paid for this past summer. I am expecting two more boxes, one in January and another in April. Since I have pre-paid for these items, I am not counting them against my low buy bank. I have already canceled this subscription box.
These rules are fluid. If something isn’t working for me, I’ll change it. If the rules are too easy, I’ll fix it.
