Castor oil comes from the castor bean, which is rich in ricinoleic acid—a type of fatty acid known to fight inflammation. Castor oil is usually clear or pale yellow. However, when it is derived through roasting or boiling, it is known as black castor oil. There are several varieties of castor plants. However, while the oil has benefits, the seeds and beans are poisonous and can sometimes even be deadly, so ingesting these should be avoided.
