A boil on your butt can be caused by a skin infection that begins in an oil gland or hair follicle.
These boils are usually caused by bacteria called Staphylococcus aureus (the more common type known simply as staph bacteria).
Other bacteria or fungi found on the skin’s surface can also cause boils, but staph is the most common cause that is well known.
