How Do You Choose a Healthy Sunscreen for Eczema?

www.primephysiquenutrition.com – My brother and I shot this quick video while we were in the Bahamas. We wanted to give you a quick tip on how to choose a healthy sunscreen for eczema. Learn more about my favourite sunscreen below.

My favourite sunscreen is Badger (but not to say that there aren’t other healthy alternatives out there as well). When I used to work in the health food store, this was the cleanest product that I found on shelves. Sometimes I’ll use their baby sunscreen (as I like the ingredients more, even though it has similar ingredients with the regular sunscreens for adults). The product link is here if you’d like to find out more info on it (and the ingredients in it):

Badger is made using zinc oxide, which is the Environmental Working Group’s (EWG’s) first choice for sun protection.

Badger also uses non-nano zinc oxide (meaning it will not enter the bloodstream). These are much safer than chemical sunscreens which enter the blood. Chemical sunscreens have a higher chance of entering the bloodstream, disrupting hormones, and irritating the skin.

You can also learn more about their sunscreen benefits & ingredients here:

You have to use a lot of zinc oxide to get an SPF 30. This makes these mineral sunscreens pricier than chemical sunscreens.

For instance – Oxybenzone is a popular product found in chemical sunscreens and it’s found in about 60% of sunscreens sold in the US. The US Center for Disease Control found that 97% of Americans have oxybenzone in their blood. This ingredient has been shown to disrupt normal hormone functions and some health professionals are recommending that products containing this ingredient not be used.
