Is your mask causing acne? Here is how to avoid breakouts and get rid of acne pimples when wearing a face mask or respirator! I’ve received so many questions about PPE skin care like how to get rid of mask acne, can face masks cause acne and how to prevent acne from wearing a mask that I had to share my tips and treatments for acne breakouts on the face. Acne blemishes develop when the pores in the skin become clogged with oil and dead skin cell build-up and when covered with a face mask can irritate the skin and cause pimples and zits. I recommended cleansing and exfoliating the skin before using a gentle anti-bacterial skin care product like Mugwort or Propolis in your skin care routine to help prevent breakouts as well as washing your face mask frequently will help reduce the acne caused by wearing a face mask. It is also important to watch for the signs and symptoms of contact dermatitis as wearing a face covering for long periods of time can increase the chances of irritation. Symptoms of contact dermatitis can include: rashes, itching, dry skin, blisters and bumps as well as swelling and burning. Make sure to always follow proper mask guidelines and always speak with your healthcare professional.
