People regularly write to me asking if I work with “normal skin”…Which makes me chuckle! 😅
It seems acneic skin is looked upon as somehow different from normal skin…🤔
Let me just flip that concept on its head.
Acne is what happens when “normal” skin is neglected or aggressed with damaging skincare practices. It’s an inflammatory state, similar to a blister when you walk in uncomfortable shoes.
Notice that not everyone gets blisters all the time? It depends on the shoes, the foot’s resilience (callouses), and time spent walking in those shitty damn shoes.🦶
Bad skincare is like uncomfortable shoes in this metaphor👠.
When you develop blisters after wearing uncomfortable shoes, you hopefully don’t blame it on your hormones or your diet. You just get a comfortable pair of shoes and let your feet rest.
When people develop acne or any skin condition, they tend to blame it on their hormones and/or diet because that’s the popular story, instead of switching to products that support and protect their skin.
Why? Because blisters develop quickly, while skin conditions require time. For some people, skin conditions require so much time (decades) that they simply don’t make the connection.
Many people who have had normal skin their whole lives work with me after, BAM, one day they wake up in their 30s or 40s with acne and/or rosacea and/or melasma.😱 It doesn’t happen over night.
But you can certainly work with me before you develop these conditions because prevention is easier than reversal. (Or at the very least, use my site and YT channel for a ton of amazing info.)
We all have SKIN. All skin is “normal”.
It doesn’t matter whether you’re a woman, man, child…or how resilient or inflamed your skin might be…
All skin benefits from proper care.
Some skin needs specific actives at particular frequencies, but all skin needs an amazing cleanser, my 3-step moisture method™, and well-formulated broad-spectrum sunscreen 365 days a year!
If you don’t have the above, you’re creating damage–and in time you might be one of those people who wakes up with a skin condition not understanding how it happened.😉

Olena
