Ah, we are at the second to last video in my Sherlock Your Skin Series already! Today is Day 6 and we’re talking Emotions, Psyche, and Spirit (aka Having Faith in Healing/God/The Universe/A Greater Purpose/A Reason For All The Pain).

The emotions are the body’s feedback to the brain about what’s going on in the environment within and outside of it. When you feel imbalance, stress, and uncomfortable, it is for a reason and it needs to be rebalanced. Emotions are not to be ignored. They are one of our biggest clues to healing! They are immediate, real-time communication from your body to your mind. How your respond and interpret that information is very important to getting the healing process started and working as soon as possible. Or if you judge and repress it, it can delay that healing process.

I strongly KNOW that is a huge missing piece of a lot of eczema treatment plans–or any treatment plan in the Western medical system for that matter. For many people, including myself, this is the true trigger of their eczema when food and diet make low-to-no difference. Yes, there are always benefits to having more fruit and veggies to your diet (you can never get too many trace minerals!), BUT, for many people doing things like going vegan, juicing, and cleaning up their diet don’t make much if any progress. For them, it’s stress that is the true trigger and blocks the neural pathways, lymphatic flow (which helps dispel toxins from the body through the lymph fluid), and the ability for the body to detoxify normally, optimally.

And that can stem from instability at home, work, love, friendships or just self-esteem. Judgment and bullying from family, friends, partners, and peers magnify this effect. It is when those aspects of their lives improve that their skin improves. And if they want, they can go vegan, organic, gluten-free, etc. and then body will truly be able to receive the nourishment and the nutrients that can amp up the integrity of their skin and immune system.

Please don’t ignore your feelings. To honor and respect them is to honor and respect yourself. Embrace them, feel, them and ask them what it is your body, mind, and spirit need to feel better and do that immediately. Even if it means taking a break and going to the beach, reading, walking, listening to music. Take that first step. And then another, and another, and another. Next thing you know you’ll be walking on the right path to healing your skin. This is a daily practice for me and sometimes my first step is to just take a nap and reboot. I swear my skin feels way softer when I wakeup and it’s much easier to make wiser, healthier decisions for my well-being. Hope this has inspired you to start thinking about the many ways you can reboot yourself, too!
