Itching or burning in the anal region usually is caused by acute or chronic fissure in ano. Acute fissure in ano will induce severe pain while passing stool but following the act of defecation there will be some itching or irritation or burning sensation in the anal region. Usually it is managed with the help of local gel, some stool softening agent and pain relieving agent. But other causes which cause similar symptoms are due to worm infestations clearly hookworm infestation we find these. Even allergic reactions or dermatitis in can cause itching in the anal region. But parallel very rarely we find patients with cancer in the recto anal canal where the mucus is relatively discharged more often when compared to a normal individual. That mucus can come and rub the anal region and cause itchiness where the patient may primarily find with only the itchiness and when we in detail observe the patient we may find an anal or rectal cancer.
