There’s very little argument that lotions need some kind of preservative, in the same way that any food left out of the fridge for a few days will begin to spoil – the same applies for lotion! I know that when it comes to lotion recipes with natural ingredients, there’s a lot of debate and around Emulsifiers, Preservatives & Antioxidants. Unfortunately, 100% all natural emulsifiers & preservatives aren’t really a thing – however, naturally-derived emulsifiers, including emulsifying waxes and preservatives are now more widely available. This makes it possible to create natural lotions without having to rely on harmful parabens and other chemicals.
