Perception can be a big gamechanger in the world of eczema. If you perceive that your eczema is unsurmountable and that your’e doomed to live with it forever and it’s horrible, it definitely will be. If you perceive that this is a condition that can teach you how to appreciate health and that there are still things and compassionate people to enjoy time with who will still love and accept you despite your eczema, that will also be true. You attract whatever you think of in life. Some things can take longer to manifest than others, but whatever you stick with is whatever will stick around.
Life with eczema is a marathon. It is the long-run game. But, that’s not to say that there aren’t some really beautiful stops and breaks along the way that you can enjoy and savor.
In my life, I choose to perceive my eczema as something that is temporary and not a big deal. It is not something that holds me back from having a career, lots of friends, fun, and comfort in my body. I wanted this so much for myself that I redirected my obsession with my skin’s perfection (which lead to lots of anxiety and more itching) to an obsession with being as comfortable in my skin as possible with or without rashes (total self-acceptance which ironically lead to less itching and rashes). And this has been true for me for the past 5 years and counting (after 27 years of lots of confusion and suffering).
Use your mind for good. Use your perception for power. Heal. Starting NOW.
Thank you for sticking with me for the past 12 Meditations On Eczema videos. My next series will focus on more tangible, physical techniques you can use to heal your specific type of eczema completely grounded in your body. We first had to ready the mind to get it ready to direct the body to heal and be receptive to the healing. May the healing continue!
