“I tried everything, but nothing works.”
I’ve heard this from almost every single client, and pretty much any person who has a skin condition.I used to say it about my own skin-clearing journey — “I tried everything short of Acutane,” I’d say.😅
This has a silver bullet vibe…Like if only I find the ONE thing that will work.
There’s no one thing, I keep telling you.
Trying stuff to try stuff is not the answer.
Nor, is trying ALL THE THINGS.
Like when you get a blister, you don’t try all the shoes…You just put on a comfortable pair of sneakers the next time you go out and let it heal.
When you get a blister, you don’t blame it on your diet or your hormones, or genes…”Mom, you caused THIS!!!!”
But when you get a pimple on your face, the story changes from the simplicity of what happens on the skin has an impact on the skin, to must-try-all-the-things.I get it, the money maker is important to us.
But you’re still dealing with an organ.So throwing turmeric, yoghurt, honey, Proactiv, Dermatologica, Banish, Accutane, pills, supplements etc. at the problem isn’t going to solve the problem — because clearly, how we see the problem is the problem.
I recommend:
✅Learning how skin, the organ, works
✅Learning how you can support your skin (Which means bingeing all my content! YAY!)😇
From there, things will become so much clearer.
It’s not about the number of solutions you’ve tried, and never will be.
💖It’s about becoming knowledgeable and picky AF.
💖It’s about willing to see things differently.
💖It’s about quality over quantity.
💖It’s about differentiating between skin care and skin stuff (the fancy bottles at Sephora).
💖It’s about ignoring trends and influencer opinions.
💖It’s about creating a gentle, well-formulated skincare routine that treats YOUR skin with CARE.
💖It’s about longterm-consistency.💖It’s about respecting and appreciating your skin and everything it does for you.
Because respect and appreciation go both ways.
