Causes & managment of progressive 2-3 mm white spots on legs?-Dr. Rasya Dixit

Small white patches of depigmentation, which is usually about 1 to 2 mms in size, commonly seen on the legs, can also be seen on the arms and as well as on the stomach area, These are called as idiopathic acute hypomelanosis which are normal hypopigmentation or normal depigmentation which you do not have to be worried about. There are like little areas of depigmentation which is very very tiny and they might be multiple in number. You might see quite a few of them. Especially they are seen with advancing age. They increase in number. They are like grey hairs. So they are like you age and you get these spots. Usually no treatment is needed for these spots However if you feel that they are increasing in size and they are merging into each other, it is time to see a dermatologist to make sure that you are not missing out on any other diagnosis. Even if you are looking at vitiligo, it is a treatment which is possible for these skin diseases recently we celebrated the world vitiligo day and all the dermatologists of India participated in this. This is just a disease of depigmentation. It is just a decolouration of the skin, nothing to get worried about. However, if it is just 2 to 3 mms size, I don’t think you have much to be worried about.
