Why do i get recurrent fungal skin infections? – Dr. Amee Daxini

Fungal infection of the skin is due to a variety of fungi but fortunately for use treatment remains the same. Unfortunately on our country fungal infections are not taken very seriously. So they generally go to the chemists or the local doctor and take over the counter prescriptions which is because of resistance of all antifungal medians that we give in India. This has become a very big problem and that is the reason why we see recurrence or reappearance of fungal infection even after treatment. Always visit a dermatologist. Do not pick up medicines over the counter. Do not share your clothes or your towels other personal things with someone else you might transfer the infection or they might give it to you. The other very important thing is hygiene, use of the right body wash, bath regularly. Using antifungal creams which do not have steroids in them and following the doctor’s orders depending on the oral medications days and times are very important like taking antifungal tablets after meals or taking it with meals which has fat in it or taking it with lime juice, all these things will improve the benefit the antifungal medicines can give you. So please follow the dermatologists prescription and do not follow over the counter prescriptions.
