Scalp psoriasis is the most common form of Scalp psoriasis and it is a more underdiagnosed condition because most people are thinking that it is very resistant dandruff or very bad case of seborrheic dermatitis, and they just feel that it is keeping on coming on again and again. Scalp psoriasis can actual cause more irritation and cause people it be more uncomfortable and can add on to your hair loss as well. So if you think if you have thick flaky dandruff that is extending beyond your scalp to your face area, it may be that you have a Scalp psoriasis and the diagnosis very easy if your dermatologist can examine and do a scalp diagnosis and identify if there is a Scalp psoriasis. The cause is usually genetic and if you have a tendency for Scalp Psoriasis from inside then it can be worsen in some seasons like in winter, it can definitely be worse and in summers you feel it is little bit better and it may become worse if you are under stress or if you gain weight. So very importantly identifying and diagnosing goes a long way in correct treatment, usually I recommend tar based lotion as a leaveon before it is actually washed off with a steroid based shampoo which reduces the inflammation significantly in psoriasis of the scalp this can be tapered off once the inflammation has come down and it has significantly improved, you could starting washing your hair on alternate days with this lotion. Definitely yes, shampoos lotions and hair care and scalp hygiene plays an important role in the control of Scalp psoriasis.
