This video chronicles the process of removing of excess pigmentation – hyperpigmentation, (darker skin) around the mouth and eyes and from acne scarring (non-raised). Hyperpigmentation is especially common among PoC but there is little available scientific data as to tackling this issue. I have collated and reviewed the existent literature and formulated a tried and tested approach. #drhaniskin

EXAMPLES OF PRODUCTS ⬇️
(not necessarily my personal preference, just the easiest to source/cheapest, so read labels and allergens CAREFULLY!)
AHA TONER
REMEMBER! Mandelic Acid is best in PoC & those with sensitive skin!
ACTIVES
KOJIC ACID
(could not find one that I would recommend 😭, I will update this as I keep looking, I personally use a product from Japan; Victoria Health Kojic Acid Serum)
ARBUTIN ⬇️
ASCORBIC ACID (aka Vitamin C). 2 types ⬇️
– higher strength and more effective, but slightly irritant version
– best version for sensitive skin as Vit C can be irritant at higher strengths (slightly less potent though…)
AZALEIC ACID ⬇️
NIACINAMIDE ⬇️
(forgot to mention that ideally this shouldn’t be combined with Vitamin C, so use this in the AM under your moisturiser if using Vit C in the evenings)
OCCLUSIVE ⬇️
Vaseline works perfectly, but Aquaphor is slightly nicer imo (a bit smoother and contains glycerin (great humectant) and lanolin (emollient from wool wax so not vegan)
– not gonna leave a link for Vaseline lmao
