High cholesterol can cause some problems in the skin as well. One of the common problems we see of High cholesterol is deposition of cholesterol around the eyes. This is Xanthelasma. So this is yellowish or whitish deposits here. Usually it is treated by a surgical treatment or spot peels. Peels are multiple session procedures and done repeatedly and the give variable results. There are surgeries that are more precise and takes care of the problem, doesn’t mean that the High cholesterol deposits doesn’t happen again. But it can take several years to happen again. So correction of High cholesterol levels is very important. Other common presentation of High cholesterol is development of multiple white or yellow colored spots on the hands, legs.
